Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Counsel to join our Legal department, specializing in litigation matters, with a primary focus on construction disputes. This role can be based in either Cheshire, Connecticut, or New York, New York. As a key senior member of the litigation team, you will work closely with business leaders to assess litigation risk, develop dispute resolution strategies, and manage litigation efforts. You will be directly involved in all aspects of litigation and work collaboratively with outside counsel in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment dealing with complex legal disputes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on a broad range of legal issues, with a primary focus on construction litigation matters.
- Advise business leaders on identifying and mitigating litigation risks.
- Develop and implement creative dispute resolution strategies.
- Define and drive overall litigation strategy for the company.
- Manage and oversee outside counsel to ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Be directly involved in all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation advice through trial and appeal.
- Collaborate closely with the Contract Management and Project teams to assess and mitigate claims during the pre-litigation phase.
- Uphold and promote Lane’s core values of excellence, respect, trust, integrity, and sustainable innovation.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of litigation experience, with significant experience handling construction disputes preferred.
- J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
- Admission to a State Bar.
- Exceptional analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a positive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Business-savvy and a commercial approach to problem-solving.
- Experience and knowledge of the American heavy highway road and bridge construction industry is helpful, though candidates with experience in other segments of the construction industry will be considered.
