Our client, Architect Therapeutics , was recently founded to explore completely new, highly coveted chemical space for addressing challenging molecular targets (expand the “druggable universe”) using a combination of leading-edge C-H activation technologies (from Prof. Jin-Quan Yu laboratory) and activity-based-protein-profiling (from Prof. Ben Cravatt laboratory).
We are looking for an undergraduate or BS level chemist pursuing their Master’s degree to perform library (array) synthesis and purification for small molecule drug discovery projects. The successful candidate will further develop synthetic chemistry skills. They will be trained on automated parallel synthetic chemistry and analytical chemistry techniques and will have the opportunity to learn medicinal chemistry serving as a member of our drug discovery project team.
This position is for a 12-month period from January-December 2025 ; ideal for an active student. This is an onsite position requiring a minimum 10 hr/week commitment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn to use library synthesis equipment and reverse phase HPLC to perform library synthesis and purification
- Prepare small molecule libraries and characterize and evaluate product purity by LCMS
- Optimize the process for library production by increasing reaction success rates and reducing cycle times
- Document all experiments performed in electronic notebook, including data analysis and QC
- Present findings to supervisor and project team on regular basis
Qualifications and Experience:
- BS or MS with previous lab experience, experience in industry is a plus
- Completed or enrolled in coursework in organic chemistry. Must have completed two years of laboratory chemistry courses. Previous summer research experience in organic chemistry preferred.
- Highly motivated, productive, and goal-driven with hands-on laboratory experience including synthetic chemistry and purification techniques
- Have familiarity with reading scientific literature and able to apply to experimental design
- Have high attention to detail to promote reliable and reproducible data generation, strong recordkeeping skills, and ability to communicate within a laboratory environment
- Strong experience with basic Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and chemistry software (ChemDraw).
- Familiarity with lab automation and/or high throughput instrumentation is a plus
