About the Company: McKinley Packaging, a Corrugated Container manufacturer, is currently seeking an experienced Converting Superintendent at our fast-paced manufacturing facility in Lebanon, IN. The Converting Superintendent will report directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for all aspects of the production, maintenance, and shipping/receiving for the facility. They will have solid line responsibility for any on-site Converting Supervisors. This position entails comprehensive oversight of day-to-day production operations including critical aspects of safety, quality, production, maintenance, planning, and shipping associated with the facility within the span of control. The Converting Superintendent contributes to achieving the plant’s sales objectives through coordination of workflow and upholding product quality standards.



Responsibilities:



  • Ensure Company assets and physical plant are secure and well maintained.
  • Achieve desired results in Safety and Quality through personal commitment and focus, and compliance with plant and corporate best practices and policies.
  • Minimize waste within the facility by driving awareness, training, and accountability.
  • Participate in machine center goal setting process at the shift and departmental levels.
  • Drive maximum throughput within the facility by managing programs designed to reduce set up times and increase uptime and machine speeds.
  • Ensure the facility follows all appropriate environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Support Culture and maintain a strong focus on Housekeeping within the facility.
  • Responsible for production operations including Safety, Quality, Waste, and Productivity. Hold Supervisors and other subordinates accountable for continuous improvement initiatives in all areas.
  • Strive to provide world-class customer service via competitive lead times and maximum flexibility and response.
  • Manage facility’s operations from a capacity planning/asset utilization standpoint.
  • Build effective partnerships with plant leadership and staff functions to drive expected results.
  • Control manufacturing and conversion costs within budgetary limits.
  • Monitor variable operating expense to obtain budgetary objective as it pertains to production.
  • Adjust ensure staffing levels and other expenses such as utilities, etc. are on target.
  • Plan and prepare capital expenditures in coordination with Controller, Production Manager, General Manager, and appropriate corporate resources.
  • Coach and develop supervisors and hourly employees to maximize their effectiveness as well as their teams’ effectiveness.
  • Identify and develop high potential employees for levels of greater responsibility and scope.
  • Recruit talent that will address the needs of the facility and fill technical and competency gaps within the organization.
  • Ensure performance feedback and appraisals are completed effectively and on a timely basis.
  • Hold people accountable for performance; work with under-performers on training assistance or put them in documented performance improvement plans and/or disciplinary programs as necessary.
  • Team oriented and excellent interpersonal communication skills. Able to develop and give presentations to direct reports, peers, etc., on operational topics.


Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible operations leadership experience within a corrugated manufacturing company.
  • Must have led an operational function at a manufacturing site or significant operation within the facility.
  • Ideally have had previous experience managing a group of employees or project team. Must possess a strong safety, operations, and business background.
  • Will have financial and process acumen, be results-driven and possess strong communications skills.
