Direct Counsel is actively seeking a seasoned Senior Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join an excellent Los Angeles based firm in their dynamic workers compensation team on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience and play a crucial role in representing this firm's clients in matters related to workers’ compensation defense. Candidates may work remotely or come to their Los Angeles office. Must have a California Bar license.
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in workers' compensation defense.
- Strong research, writing, and litigation skills.
- Knowledge of insurance coverage (preferred, but not mandatory).
- Capability to work on cases involving a national carrier providing excess reimbursement policies to qualified self-insureds for workers' compensation insurance.
Responsibilities:
- Handle complex legal matters related to workers' compensation defense.
- Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including memoranda, motions, and briefs.
- Provide strategic legal counsel to clients.
- Represent clients in hearings and trials.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Admission to the bar in California.
- Proven track record of success in workers' compensation defense cases.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
