Job Title: Purchasing AgentnnJob DescriptionnnWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. This role is based in Harrison Township, Michigan, and supports our mission of providing portable steel buildings across North America and the world. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with the shop floor team, which includes around 28 employees and 3 foremen, managing a diverse inventory of over 700 pieces.nnResponsibilitiesnnDevelop and maintain purchasing, with fabrication experience being a plus.nnDemonstrate detail orientation, problem-solving abilities, and strong teamwork skills.nnUtilize knowledge of computer purchasing and inventory systems, with familiarity in Sage being a plus.nnProficiently use Microsoft Word and Excel.nnEngage with shop personnel and visit the shop floor as needed.nnSource items for purchase to obtain the best prices.nnIssue purchase orders to vendors accurately and timely using Sage software.nnDistribute purchase order information to relevant parties promptly.nnFollow up with vendors daily to ensure timely delivery of purchased items.nnProcess vendor invoices accurately and daily using Sage software.nnConduct quarterly and year-end inventory counts using Sage software.nnReview quarterly inventory with shop personnel to manage stock purchases.nnArchive purchase order reports and job packets weekly for completed jobs.nnEnsure all items are purchased timely and accurately.nnVerify correct items are ordered and received.nnCommunicate any item shortages or vendor delivery issues to management promptly.nnRecord purchase transactions accurately in accounts payable and inventory systems.nnMaintain weekly archiving of purchase order reports and job packets.nnEssential SkillsnnMinimum of 3 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing.nnERP experience, preferably with Sage 100.nnIntermediate Excel skills.nnExperience with quoting and inventory management.nnComfortable handling invoices and working directly with vendors.nnAdditional Skills & QualificationsnnPurchasing experience within fabrication is preferred.nnAdvanced Excel skills are a plus.nnExperience handling accounting tasks.nnExperience with placing special orders.nnStrong communication and professionalism.nnProactive mindset and detail-oriented.nnWork EnvironmentnnThis role is based in a steel manufacturing environment, known for its cleanliness and adherence to safety and OSHA policies.
