The
Anesthesiologist for the
San Francisco VA Health System has the responsibility for providing general anesthesiology services to Veteran patients in a multidisciplinary integrated care environment.
Also interested in candidates with Pain, ICU and Cardiac training/experience.Responsibilities:- Management of patients rendered unconscious or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgical and other medical procedures, including pre-, intra-, and postoperative evaluation and treatment.
- Provide anesthesia care to patients in non-operative settings including the PACU, GI, Cardiology, MRI, IR, and other spaces in the hospital. All designated areas in which sedation may be performed for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. (Includes: Evaluation and Admitting, GI endoscopy suites, Cardiac Catheterization labs, Bronchoscopy Suite, Radiology Suites (including MRI and CT scanner areas), Emergency Rooms, Dental Clinics, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit).
- Participate in interdisciplinary Whole Health team activities and works collaboratively with other services in the Whole Health Initiative.
- Provide a complete range of anesthetic care to patients including pre-operative assessment, intra- operative anesthetic administration and monitoring, and post-anesthetic care, in compliance with national Joint Commission accreditation standards.
- Attend required staff meetings, communicating up and down the chain of command, and helping prepare heads-up and issue briefs related to bad patient outcomes.
- Clinical Management including indirect patient care: open encounter and open consult maintenance, CPRS documentation requirements, monitoring of clinic management. Maintains involvement in matters concerning clinic productivity, relevant performance measures, Quality and Patient Safety oversight, as well as process improvements (system redesigns).
- Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life.
- Demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of others.
