I. I. General Summary: The ECOAT (electrocoating) Specialist will safely monitor and record on the day-to-day operations of the ECOAT line(s) to ensure customer requirements are met, while also ensuring procedures are followed to provide a safe and efficient working environment. The ECOAT Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining the performance and quality of the paint line process through the application of professional electrocoating knowledge of established standards and the utmost discretion to protect the safety, quality and productivity of the ECOAT process and parts produced. II. Essential Job Functions: A. Perform daily tank checks (pH, Voltage, Pressure, Flow, etc) and record all results. Report immediately when items are not within standard ranges and take defined troubleshooting measures. B. Exercises discretion and independent judgement in matters of safety with regard to prioritizing personal & co-worker safety and exercising proper handling, storage and management methods for chemicals. C.Will exercise discretion and independent judgment with regard to ECOAT production line settings making judgements based on chemical testing results and perform necessary chemical adjustments in order maintain the quality and integrity of the paint process. D. Will be responsible to learn and conduct chemical titrations of the chemical baths and add chemicals when and where required based on existing standards and professional knowledge and discretion. E. Must be capable of managing tank pump outs and cleaning during planned production downtime events. F. Must be able to identify when pumps, plumbing, and tank levels are not functioning properly and practice disciplined problem solving to identify root cause of issues and propose countermeasures. G. Help troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on quality defects produced at the ECOAT process. Documents countermeasures thoroughly. H. Manage chemical inventory including proper documentation, storage, handling, and disposal to comply with company EHS protocols and federal, state, and local regulations and permits. I. Manage RO and Waste Water Systems and record data and maintain records in compliance with company EHS standards and federal, state, and local regulations. J. Drive mobile equipment to empty sludge hopper and replace chemical totes as needed. III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements : Education: • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field. Experience: • Four (4) years of relevant experience required in an industrial setting working with paint or other fluids. • Experience with data collection and maintenance of records and standards. Preferably in an area with regulatory rules/ laws (city, state, federal). • Must have experience in disciplined problem solving methods. • Experience with Waste Water management strongly preferred. Personal/Technical Skills: • Understanding of the manufacturing ECOAT processes. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. • Ability to solve problems using TBBP (8-step problem solving method) • Excellent organization skills • Understand the organizational structure and terminology • Must be knowledgeable of company products, design specifications, quality standards, procedures and equipment. • Must be able to work independently with little day to day supervision/direction and deliver desired results • Ability to present processes and results to all levels of the organization • Ability to manage daily testing timelines and provide timely results • Must be creative and innovative • Analytical thinking, judgment and problem solving skills are required • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement projects • Close mental concentration and attention to detail are required Language Skills: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Computer/Software: • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint programs required. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Project, Access, and other computer-based applications needed. IV. Work Environment/Conditions : Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level. Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Special chemical PPE will be required at all times during chemical sampling tests and chemical handling. Personal attire standards will also apply. Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 15% of the time. V. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.
