Summary of Need: To provide nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with the established systematic problem-solving approach for the delivery of comprehensive nursing care, which are compliant with the regulatory standards in a correctional setting. Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, podiatrists, and dentists. Includes advanced practice nurses such as: clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, and certified registered nurse anesthetists. Advanced practice nursing is practiced by RNs who have specialized formal, post-basic education and who function in highly autonomous and specialized roles.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Diagnose and treat a patient's health problems.
- Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, podiatrists, and dentists.
EKG's and blood draws, as well as have strong assessment skills. - Perform health assessments to identify new symptoms of possibly undiagnosed conditions or complications.
- Administer medication.
- Manage and deliver restorative or palliative care to the ill, disabled and dying.
- Teach and counsel patients about maintenance of health and prevention of illness or complications.
- Contribute as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team and as a consultant on health-related committees to plan and implement the health care needs of consumers.
- Treat a patient's health problems.
- Perform health assessments to identify new symptoms of possibly undiagnosed conditions or complications. Administer medication.
Qualifications: - Registered Nurse in New York State.
- Minimum of one (1) or more years' experience.
- Experience within a Emergency Room or Hospital setting preferred, but not required.
- Highly motivated, independent thinker and self-starter.
- Enthusiastic team player.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects. Strong follow-up and communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills. (Word processing, office scheduling, familiar with Windows).
Shift : Full Time All shifts available. (Mostly Evenings & Nights, with some Days).
Shift Times: 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, and 10pm to 6am.
Every other weekend and some holidays required.
Contract Length: Up to two years.
