We strive to create a workplace where your skills and talents are nurtured to allow you to grow within the company.nnAs a Licensed Practical Nurse, your job position is to provide direct nursing care under the supervision of the RN to residents and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistant to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.nnExperience & Education:nnMust be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.nnMust be CPR certified.nnMust possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an LPN/LVN in this state.nnA minimum, one (1) year experience in a hospital, long-term care facility or other related health care facility is preferable.nnNew graduates welcome!nnDuties & Responsibilities:nnMeet the nursing and rehabilitation needs of each resident.nnMaintain current resident care plans on all residents under his/her care.nnFollow physician’s orders. Renders and/or assist with complete nursing care, treatments, dressings, and other physician orders.nnTranscribe physician’s orders promptly and accurately.nnReview patient records daily to assure accuracy and completeness.nnDocument comprehensive and complete nursing notes.nnVisit each resident daily to evaluate resident needs.nnMaintain accurate awareness of residents on alert list.nnDocument and report any unusual or significant findings; contact the physician when necessary.nnAdminister medication according to procedure.nnMaintain an accurate and safe control of all drugs for which he/she is responsible.nnInitiate any and all emergency procedures as necessary.nnDemonstrate correct safety techniques.nnRespects and takes care of facility equipment and not wasteful of supplies.nnContributes to effective communication and pleasant working conditions.nnContribute to and promote positive resident and family relations.nnComplies with facility Privacy Practices Policies & Procedures, protecting residents’ individual health information.nnContinue growth and expand job knowledge.nnDemonstrate leadership skills.nnOther duties assigned by manager.nnSpecific Requirements:nnMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.nnMust possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.nnMust possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.nnMust be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.nnMust possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.nnMust possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.nnMust possess accurate and comprehensive assessment skills.nnMust be familiar with drug actions and interactions.nnMust have knowledge of restorative nursing rehabilitation policies and utilizes appropriately.nnMust have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.nnMust be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.nnMust be able to communicate effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations.nnAbout Athena Health Care Systems:nnAthena Health Care Systems, headquartered in Connecticut, has been a pioneer in delivering exceptional healthcare services since its establishment in 1984.
