Join the Houston Methodist team as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist II PRN, where you will play a vital role in providing exceptional pre-anesthesia, anesthesia, and post-anesthesia care. Under the guidance of attending Anesthesiologists and the Department Chair, you will deliver high-quality services in a clinical, research, and academic setting with a focus on patient safety and adherence to the Texas Nursing Board regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clinical and educational instruction to nurse anesthesia students, focusing on patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, and major vascular surgeries.
- Foster effective communication within the healthcare team, promoting a supportive environment that enhances morale and engagement.
- Conduct thorough pre-anesthesia assessments and formulate tailored anesthesia plans in collaboration with physician supervision.
- Carry out advanced procedures such as placing and maintaining epidural catheters, and inserting arterial and central venous catheters.
- Administer anesthesia, ensure physiologic stability during procedures, and document all relevant information accurately in the patient's medical records.
- Monitor patient data, respond to emergency situations with appropriate interventions, and provide life-saving techniques as needed.
- Engage in research initiatives, leading practice improvements and safety protocols, while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Develop and enhance educational curricula for nurse anesthesia students, contributing to staff development and continuing education.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and maintain awareness of anesthesia practices and trends within the field.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program.
- A minimum of four years of anesthesia experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Valid Texas State RN Licensure or Compact State Licensure.
- APRN certification from the Texas Board of Nursing.
- CRNA certification from the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA).
