THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Insurance Investigator 2, you will utilize your experience as you review and investigate complex consumer complaints in relation to health, disability, life, and/or property and casualty lines of insurance. Effective communication skills are essential as you will be handling numerous telephone calls and inquiries from the general public and licensees regarding various insurance regulations, statutes, adjudications, and industry trends. You will be required to maintain an extensive working knowledge of insurance principles, practices, and laws as you will be completing detailed notes and written reports as well as handling special assignments and projects. You may have the opportunity to represent the department at consumer events, Disaster Recovery Centers, and testify at formal hearings. This position requires constant communication with management to ensure trends and suspected violations of insurance law and/or regulations are relayed as well as any investigative findings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You will be required to report in-office one day per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as an Insurance Investigator 1; or
  • Seven years of experience as an insurance investigator, underwriter, agent, broker or claims adjuster. College level training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for four years of the required experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
