JOB SUMMARY: Drives commercial equipment with class A CDL for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of goods to our customers or other facilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Deliver eggs and egg products to retail, foodservice, and manufacturing facilities as scheduled and unload or assist in unloading of the product as requested by customer.
- Reconcile all deliveries with invoices.
- Record product lot number accurately on all invoices/delivery logs.
- Records temperatures of trailers accurately and specified times.
- Monitor function of all equipment (vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) and report malfunctions to Warehouse Lead or Transportation Supervisor.
- Maintain route book (Electronic Logging Device, aka ELD)
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
- Maintain good working relationship with all warehouse personnel, drivers, and office staff.
- Inform Transportation Manager of any safety concerns, equipment issues, injuries, or any other pertinent issues as soon as they arise.
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, such as hard hats and steel toed safety shoes, as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Operate truck and trailer safely, in accordance with all Department of Transportation standards and regulations.
- Have and maintain a good driving record, reporting any driving violations to the Traffic Supervisor.
- Must follow all DOT rules and regulations.
- Ensure good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a courteous and professional manner. If a problem arises, call the Transportation Manager so that the problem can be corrected.
- Must take and pass an initial drug screening, as well as random screenings to follow.
- Must pass a bi-yearly DOT physical examination.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
- Actively participate in and promote our safety culture by following safe work practices and adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents and observations of unsafe acts or conditions.
Job Qualifications: - Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School Diploma, General Education degree (GED), or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years, four seasons semi driving experience
- Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License and have the ability to operate a semi, pallet jack, dock leveler and any other pertinent equipment.
- Ability to work well in a team setting, work efficiently, being customer service oriented and being safety conscious.
