Customer Service Engineer

Countryside, IL

75k-95k -35/HR to 42/HR – paid for travel time, per diem, and a additional $10/HR to $15/HR when on the job at a customer site


Aegis Worldwide is partnered with a client in the manufacturing industry looking to hire a Customer Service Engineer in Countryside, IL! This role is direct hire, first shift, and they are looking for someone either:

  • An entry-level electrical engineer fresh out of college or with internship experience.
  • An experienced professional with around five years of experience in maintenance, electrical work, or a skilled trade.

Responsibilities

The Customer Service Engineer will spend approximately 55% of their time traveling to clients. While they won't be involved in the physical installation of equipment on-site, they will focus on commissioning the equipment, ensuring it is set up and ready to operate. Responsibilities include loading, debugging, and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems. Additionally, they will train clients on how to set up and use the equipment. When not traveling, the engineer will be based at the Countryside plant, supporting the assembly of the equipment. The role includes about six international trips per year, with the possibility of up to ten.


Ideal Experience (don't need all of these):

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with an associate’s degree, trade school, or high school diploma/GED.
  • 0-1+ years of electrical engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging PLCs and HMIs on newly installed equipment.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC product lines.
  • Willingness to travel 55% of the time, including internationally.
  • Ability to perform I/O checks on equipment before startup and commissioning, both at the factory and customer sites.
  • Capability to correct issues identified during I/O checks.
  • Experience redlining electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to communicate necessary changes to engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Availability to work on-site at the CHSC plant in Countryside, IL.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers via email, phone, video calls, and in-person demonstrations.
