Position Summary :


The Vice President of Procurement leads the procurement function globally within the Bioriginal group of companies, with a focus on developing and implementing sourcing and procurement strategies, optimizing procurement processes and cost reduction, while ensuring quality and product availability to meet demand. The role provides a great opportunity for an experienced procurement leader, to develop and grow the procurement function within a growing, global business. This role would be part of the executive leadership team within the organization.


Responsibilities & Expectations:


Leadership/Strategy


  • Develops and implements procurement strategies that optimize quality, lead times, cost savings, inventory levels and efficiencies.
  • Oversees the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process.
  • Leads a global procurement and inventory management team, focused on minimizing inventories, while ensuring procured products meet or exceed pricing, quality and lead time requirements.
  • Provides coaching, guidance and mentorship to staff.
  • Establishes and holds staff accountable to departmental Key Performance Indi cators (KPI’s). Develops and manages the procurement and inventory budgets.
  • Identifies and develops strategies to mitigate risks related to purchase contracts.
  • Provides strong leadership to the procurement and inventory planning functions and works closely with the executive leadership team to support broader leadership activities.
  • Provides procurement leadership over all purchasing categories, including standard commodities, specialty commodities, grain & packaging components.
  • Understands market dynamics, best times to contract and take positions in products.


Supplier Relations


  • Leads negotiations on all purchase contracts, ensuring the best possible terms for Bioriginal (i.e. favorable pricing, quality and delivery terms).
  • Leads the vendor qualification process, to ensure all applicable terms and conditions meet Bioriginal’s expectations and requirements.
  • Oversees vendor compliance, ensuring that suppliers are meeting standards and specifications when fulfilling orders.
  • Responsible for supplier relationship management, including supplier delivery performance measurement.
  • Manages entire lifecycle of contracts, including drafting, negotiation and termination.
  • Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors contract performance and enforces terms and conditions.


Stakeholder Relations


  • Working with key stakeholders, identifies cost-saving opportunities, streamlines processes and improves efficiencies within the procurement and inventory functions, to enable success for internal stakeholders.
  • Working with key stakeholders, evaluates supplier performance and addresses any issues or concerns as needed.
  • Oversees maintenance of supplier relationships and evaluations to include on-time delivery, quality and regulatory requirments.


Desired Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field. Previous education related to contract management is preferred. Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain, procurement and contract management, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility. Minimum of 3+ years working in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract law and supply chain management principles.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and leadership skills. Ability to analyze data, identify trends and make strategic decisions.
  • Certification within procurement or supply chain management is an asset.
