Stepping Stones Crisis Society is accepting applications for a full-time, permanent Director of Fund Development role.
Stepping Stones is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic violence and crisis situations. Based in Cold Lake, Alberta, they provide a safe and nurturing environment where those in need can find refuge, support, and resources to rebuild their lives. They offer a range of services, including emergency shelter, counselling, education, and advocacy, all aimed at empowering clients to overcome their challenges and achieve long-term stability and safety.
This is a key leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of Stepping Stones’ fund development and marketing strategies. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Fund Development also provides strategic guidance for events, campaigns, and donor stewardship programs while fostering meaningful relationships with community stakeholders, corporate partners, and foundations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee multi-year funding events, campaigns, strategies, and initiatives while ensuring they are aligned with the organization’s goals and annual operational needs.
- Build and nurture relationships with community stakeholders, donors, sponsors, foundations and corporate partners. Foster collaboration and support for the organization’s mission.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to staff and volunteers involved in fund development, marketing, and event planning.
- Research, prepare, and manage funding proposals, grant applications, and reporting for all funding.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities and innovative revenue streams.
- Identify and develop tactics for soliciting the support of new and non-traditional funding sources.
- Oversee all branding, media relations, and content creation to ensure consistency and alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee the Marketing & Communication Coordinator to manage the website, social media platforms, and other digital assets to maximize engagement and outreach.
- Oversee a comprehensive communications strategy for internal and external communication needs.
- Write and edit promotional materials, newsletters, annual reports, and press releases.
- Collaborate with local media and community organizations to promote awareness of Stepping Stones and its initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Fundraising certification (e.g., CFRE) and planned giving training are considered an asset.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum five years of experience in fundraising, marketing, or related fields within the non-profit sector.
- Proven track record of successful fund development, donor stewardship, and grant writing.
- Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, marketing strategies, and donor relationship management.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with graphic design tools and social media platforms is an asset.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license free from restrictions.
