Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the guidance of the Director or Supervisor, you will carry out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as ordered by a physician. Key responsibilities include:

• Administering medical gases and aerosol therapy.
• Collecting and analyzing blood specimens.
• Conducting patient testing and maintaining various respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Assisting in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• Educating patients and monitoring their responses to therapy.
• Documenting patient information accurately in all records.
• Ensuring safety and infection control while cleaning equipment.
• Accepting additional duties as assigned by the Director or Supervisor.

Note: As a Respiratory Student Technician, you will not be responsible for mechanical ventilation or maintaining artificial airways until you graduate from your Respiratory Therapy program.

Qualifications:

• You must be currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy Program.
• You are required to hold a current Respiratory Education permit from the Missouri Board for Respiratory Care.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
