Multi-office immigration law practice is hiring a full-time attorney for our Oakland Location. The Attorney will provide in-person consultations for new clients, as well as direct representation. It will be expected to complete appearances before the immigration court and USCIS and perform legal research and draft motions, declarations, briefs, and appeals for mainly Spanish-speaking clientele.
Bilingual in English and Spanish language is required. California license and criminal experience would definitely be a plus!We are looking for a candidate with 2 to 5 years minimum of immigration law practice experience, with a valid license to practice law in the U.S. The criteria to be considered must include experience and skills such as:
1. Direct representation of clients before USCIS and EOIR (master and merits hearings, in person and via Webex)
2. Expertise and able to screen clients for adjustment of status, inadmissibility v. removability issues, crimmigration, family-based immigration, consular processing, waivers, U and T visas, VAWA, asylum, cancellation of removal, DACA, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and naturalization, including bars to naturalization.
3. Able to work independently.
4. Able to travel on an occasional basis.
5. Able to be in-person at the office in the location above mentioned, this is not a remote position.
