LPN Supervisor, Ambulatory Clinical Operations - Family Medicine AspersnnLocation: WellSpan Health, Aspers, PAnnSchedule: Full TimennFull-Time (80 Hours Biweekly)nnDaytime hours, occasional evening as needednnGeneral SummarynnFunctions as part of the management team, performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties related to clinical staff management and patient care. Duties may include quality monitoring, patient assessments, direct patient care, and patient/caregiver/staff education. Provides safe, therapeutic, efficient quality care and services to all patients served. Functions as a member of the health care team at an intermediate nursing level to assist in the planning and implementation of patient care based upon sound nursing judgment, clinical preparation, knowledge, skills and experience. Nursing care is provided in accordance with the provisions of the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. May be responsible for the clinical functions of more than one practice with the oversight of a Registered Nurse.nnDuties and ResponsibilitiesnnEssential Functions:nnMaintains a safe environment for both patients and employees by managing internal office functions related to clinical care and quality monitoring. This may include ensuring that medical equipment and supplies are readily available and are monitored for safety and quality control. Ensures the required documentation of quality control inspections are completed, which may include documentation of temperature readings, expiration date assessment, and the maintenance of emergency supplies and equipmentnnIn consultation, assigns and delegates tasks to the clinical support staff in accordance with the State Board of Nursing Licensing Regulations and the Nurse Practice Act.nnEnsures an efficient day-to-day clinical workflow within the practice. Assures staff function in accordance with standard workflow procedures.nnEnsures compliance with regulatory agencies including OSHA, CLIA, Vaccines for Children (VFC), Department of Health, Federal Meaningful Use Standards, etc. Ensures environmentally safe practices are in place, including the maintenance of the Materials Safety Data Sheet manual.nnEnsures compliance with the standards of the Patient Centered Medical Home and Neighborhood, and all WMG policies, procedures, and initiatives.nnCoordinates efforts with employee health to ensure that all office staff receive an annual flu vaccination or receive approval for exemption from employee health.nnAssists to develop clinical policies and procedures. Assists in monitoring and evaluation of quality assessment activities, including chart audits to monitor documentation compliance.nnAttends meetings and clinical competency training sessions as needed. Communicates regularly with staff to ensure pertinent and timely exchange of information.nnFollows recommended processes to appropriately manage and document patient concerns and quality of care issues including application of Just Culture principles.nnApplies Lean principles and identifies opportunities for Process Improvement. Provides leadership in striving to achieve excellence in clinical practice.nnPerforms all responsibilities of the Medical Assistant and Physician Office Nurse.nnMonitors Risk and Safety Management Alert System (RASMAS) notices and completes necessary follow-up.nnMonitors staff completion of clinical tasks within the patient electronic medical record and MyWellspan patient portal.nnMonitors staff compliance with Diagnostic Test Tracking.nnMonitors proper management of patients on anticoagulation therapy and use of the Coag Tracker if applicable for practice.nnMonitors staff compliance and application of competencies. Mentors clinical staff and assists in clinical advancement.nnTrains, mentors, and monitors staff performing phone triage procedures.nnMonitors staff competency for accurate electronic medical record documentation.nnEnsures appropriate training of staff on new equipment, procedures, and best practices.nnCoordinates the clinical training and orientation of new/floater staff. Assigns preceptor, when applicable.nnAudits staff performance where indicated, and when necessary (Planned Care) - i.e. Standing Orders and Exam Room Support, PCMH, Diagnostic Test Tracking, Med Reconciliation and PCMN.nnAssumes manager role when Practice Manager/Front Office Supervisor is unavailable.nnServes in a leadership role as a member of the Quality Improvement Team (QIT), seeking to improve quality and safety through a high performing team. Co-leads Monthly Quality all staff/all provider meeting with Provider Champion.nnPrepares agendas and holds regular clinical staff meetings. Regularly serves on WMG clinical committees.nnAssists the providers and the Care Coordination Team to manage the care of patients according to their risk, and to assist in identifying patients in need of Case Management.nnWorks with leadership to deliver patient care through practice integration of multidisciplinary clinical and centralized services.nnAssists team to identify opportunities for improvement related to the patient experience metrics. Coaches staff on measures to use to provide an excellent patient experience, for every patient, on every visit, every day.nnAssists and educates clinical staff on when and how to enter Safety Reporting System (SRS) events, and Customer Reporting System (CRS) complaints and compliments.nnCommon Expectations:nnSupervises clinical staff by training, allocating and monitoring work. Prepares work schedules of clinical staff; approves/disapproves scheduled time off.nnAssists Manager and Clinical Operations Coordinator with interviewing, hiring, orienting, training and retention of clinical staff. Evaluates performance of designated clinical staff.nnCoordinates continuing education of clinical staff and assures clinical competencies are met, documented, and maintained.nnTrains, mentors, and coordinates preceptorship of new clinical staff. Strives for a high level of employee satisfaction and engagement and is seen as a positive role model for all staff.nnDemonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Required ornnAssociates Degree From an accredited LPN program. RequirednnWork Experience:nn3 years Clinical nursing experience. RequirednnPrevious office and supervisory experience.
