Join the team at Houston Methodist as a Registered Nurse (RN) PRN, where you will make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients in our Level III NICU. In this position, you will provide expert nursing care for a diverse patient population, conduct thorough assessments, assist with medical examinations and treatment, educate patients and families, and maintain accurate medical records.

Your role will entail delivering high-quality patient care efficiently, particularly to those with complex needs. You will be an essential part of our interdisciplinary health care team, communicating effectively with physicians and collaborating to ensure compassionate and effective treatments that meet our patients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize therapeutic communication skills, including active listening and teaching to build rapport with patients and collaborate with the health care team.
• Contribute to a supportive team environment by remaining aware of unit demands, offering assistance proactively, and creating healthy working relationships.
• Implement and lead educational initiatives tailored to patient populations and unit procedures, mentoring fellow staff and students.
• Adhere to principles of patient and family-centered care by conducting assessments and ensuring that care plans are aligned with the values and needs of patients.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of care provided, and participate in performance improvement activities related to patient safety and care outcomes.
• Display strong time management skills and take initiative to optimize resource use and improve department efficiency.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of two years of registered nurse experience.
• Current Texas State or Compact State RN licensure, or Temporary State Licensure within 60 days, alongside BLS certification.
• Additional credentials in relevant specialties are preferred, including Magnet-recognized certification.
