Responsibilities n- Communicate with family members regarding the progress of the resident.
n- May be required to assist visiting physicians in rounds.
n- May be required to draw blood and obtain fluids to submit for lab work.
n- Record and monitor all progress of residents and communicate with physicians.
n- May be required to assist in passing out trays to residents in dining area and assist in feeding.
n- Manage and monitor work of other nursing staff in unit to ensure thoroughness.
n- Required to use telephones to communicate with physicians, arrange for transportation for doctor appointments, and contact families.
n- Make rounds to ensure cleanliness and proper care to residents.
n- Coordinate care of residents.
n- Assist nursing staff members according to needs.
n- Required to take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
n- Required to chart information regarding residents, progress, medication taken, comments made by resident, observations and care plan review.
n- Required to administer the medication either by pill or injection.
n- Required to discuss progress of resident with supervising nursing staff and document information given by nursing staff.
n- Required to stock and prepare medication cart for rounds.
n- May be required to apply eye ointment to resident.
n- While not administering medication, may be required to take medication orders from physician, fill out charts, assist residents with whatever requests they may have.
n- Required to monitor any skin problems that the residents may have and treat accordingly.
n- May be required to administer insulin injections.
n- May be required to insert foley catheters and complete catheter irrigations.
n- May be required to stock and prepare medication cart.
n- May be required to bathe, dress, and assist residents in walking.
n- Required to observe and instruct Nursing Assistants.
n- Required to provide all information regarding residents to the supervising RN as to their progress and care.
n- Responsible for following company safety rules.
n- Promptly respond to resident call lights as needed.
n- Maintain a safe, homelike environment where residents feel comfortable. Special attention will be given to cleanliness, ventilation and lighting.
n- Transport residents as needed.
n- Perform duties according to company policies and procedures.
n- Perform other related duties as assigned.
n
Qualifications n- Current Minnesota licensure as a Practical Nurse.
n- One or more years of nursing education
n- Must be able to take and give instructions well and enjoy working with the elderly
n- Able to tolerate prolonged standing and walking
