Masseria by Nicholas Stefanelli a critically acclaimed, Southern Italian, fine dining restaurant in the Union Market District of Washington D.C. Preferred Qualifications:

*1+ years of experience in a bakery or any related environment

*Knowledge of basic baking techniques

Key Responsibilities:

*Prepare a wide variety of high-end baked goods including artisan breads and pastries 

*Prepare a wide variety of high end Italian baked goods

*Operate baking equipment including planetary mixer, deck ovens, combi ovens, etc. 

*Produce bakery items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen team

*Ensure that baked good are produced in a timely fashion for morning delivery and sale

*Follow pastry chef’s vision of new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of our customers

*Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for baking

*Maintain a clean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards

*Monitor baking pantry (ingredients, materials, other products) and communicate any discrepancies 

*Answer, report, and follow the Executive Pastry Chef or Pastry Sous Chef’s instructions

Physical Requirements:

*Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 

*Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

*All employees are to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance (specifics will be provided)
