Southside Coffee, our sweet neighborhood gathering spot in south Park Slope, Brooklyn, is seeking an experienced baker for four to five shifts per week. You should be a confident baker, ideally with food service experience, be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment, and have an eye for detail while maintaining awareness of the bigger picture.
We serve a rotating menu of scones, quick breads, cakes, pies, bars, buns, cookies, muffins, biscuits, and more. As part of our tight-knit 4 person baking team, you will have lots of autonomy and creativity, as well as the opportunity to bake with high quality ingredients and seasonal produce. Responsibilities include baking off and plating the morning’s baked goods, setting a menu for the following day, following recipes and developing your own, as well as maintaining a clean, organized and stocked workspace. You must be able to work on your feet for a full shift and carry 50lbs of flour/sugar up a flight of stairs.
The schedule is flexible, though Saturdays are required. Shifts begin at 6am and typically end between 1 and 2pm. This role can begin training as soon as possible, or by end of December/beginning of January at the latest.
If you feel like you are a good fit for the role, please send your resume and a cover letter telling us about yourself and your baking experience. Please include a story about your favorite flavor combination you have baked with. Looking forward to hearing from you!
