Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Wine Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our wine shop within Printemps. This individual will be responsible for curating an exceptional shopping experience, managing store staff, driving sales, and maintaining the high standards of customer service that align with the Printemps brand. The ideal candidate will be passionate about wine, possess a strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and pairings, and have proven leadership experience in retail or hospitality. The Retail Wine Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations and the Corporate Wine Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Store Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the wine shop, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, placing orders and coordinating deliveries to maintain optimal stock.
- Ensure that all products are correctly priced, displayed, and properly organized.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and a visually appealing store environment.
- Team Leadership & Staff Development:
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of sales associates and wine specialists.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development to staff, ensuring they have deep product knowledge and can offer expert recommendations to customers.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-first culture and ensure all team members provide outstanding service.
- Sales & Customer Experience:
- Drive sales by delivering exceptional customer service, both in person and through virtual channels.
- Develop and execute strategies to meet and exceed sales targets, including seasonal promotions and special events.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers, offering personalized recommendations, tastings, and pairing suggestions.
- Cultivate relationships with regular clients and foster a community of wine enthusiasts.
- Wine Program & Product Curation:
- Curate and manage an exceptional and diverse wine collection that appeals to a wide range of customers.
- Work closely with suppliers and distributors to source unique and high-quality wines.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging regions, and new wine releases to ensure the store’s offerings remain fresh and relevant.
- Marketing & Events:
- Plan and execute in-store events such as tastings, masterclasses, and private wine dinners to enhance brand presence and engage customers.
- Collaborate with the Printemps marketing team to promote the wine shop through various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and in-store promotions.
- Financial & Administrative Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage store budgets, including payroll, expenses, and product margins.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to the sale of alcohol.
- Prepare regular reports on sales performance, inventory levels, and customer feedback.
- E-Commerce:
- Create and maintain online wine offer.
- Ensure a seamless and hospitable retail experience from online to customer delivery.
- Ensure all costs are appropriately managed: online pricing, margins, online promotions, delivery costs.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in retail management, preferably in wine, luxury goods, or a high-end hospitality setting.
- Strong knowledge of wines, including tasting techniques, varietals, and wine regions.
- Certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) or similar credential preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for customer service.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and handle competing priorities.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management, and retail analytics.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the demands of the retail environment.
