Position Title: Runner
Department: Front of House
Reports To: Manager
Position Summary
Deliver kitchen items from the line to the guests in the dining room. Help manage the expo station and prepare sauces and garnishes for the dishes. The Runner is responsible for ensuring quality control in all dishes before they are delivered.
Responsibilities
- Deliver food accurately to guest's tables in a timely manner
- Answer guest questions regarding our food
- Must know the menu inside and out
- Handle guests' special dietary needs, allergies, or special requests with utmost sensitivity, following Company procedure
- Prepare expo stations for service by filling sauces, utensils etc.
- Remove used bottles, glasses, napkins and plates, etc. when guests no longer need them (help clearing tables)
- Help manage the kitchen tickets as line cooks prepare food and it is being to tables; keep the screen up to date
- Sweep and mop the property as needed
- Complete daily shift opening and closing side work checklist
- Maintain sanitation to Department of Health standards; Keep work area clean and organized
Essential Functions
- Able to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction
- Able to speak and understand English
- Able to understand basic math

- Able to lift at least 30 pounds on a regular basis
- Able to bend, stoop, stand and perform extensive walking for 8-10 hours a day
- Able to manage going up and down stairs multiple times per day

- Able to approach their work with a sense of ownership and work with a sense of urgency
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays and variable schedule, per the needs of the business

- Strict adherence to posted schedule and clock in/out at times
- Communicate information effectively and efficiently
- Maintain general knowledge of the restaurant, location, transportation, management team, etc.onu
- Comply with Company's policies and procedures, as well as city, state and federal laws
- Adhere to all HR policies and guidelines
- Inform Manager on Duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
- Knowledgeable in all restaurant operations
- Update knowledge and skills by participating in any further required training
Requirements
- Great interpersonal skills
- 1+ years prior Runner experience or similar role in a restaurant
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
- Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
- Multi-tasking abilities
