NEEDED: RADIOLOGY TECHNICIAN

STATUS: PRN / Part-Time
n
HOURS: E stimated 400 hours per year, Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, not to exceed 30 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:
n
n- U.S. Citizen
n- The technician shall be fully licensed to perform radiological procedures in one of the 50 United States
n- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American
n- Heart Association.
n- Must provide evidentiary documentation of required certification (ARRT).
n
n
EQUIPMENT: Current radiological equipment provided is a digital x-ray machine and analog. Knowledge of digital and analog equipment is required.
n
DUTIES: (not limited to)
n
n- Shall be capable of performing all radiology procedures (fluoroscopic as well as regular diagnostic) needed with minimal technical support.
n- Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the inmate population at the FCI.
n- Work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic
n- backgrounds.
n- Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.
n- Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations which may occur during special radiographic procedures.
n- Schedule exams and maintain records.
n- Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
n- Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam. Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety.
n- Independently perform all radiographic procedures, i.e., chest, bone, skull, spines, and portable x-rays, etc.
n- Notify Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while patient is undergoing an exam, so additional views, or exams can be ordered if needed.
n- Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
n- Work with Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
n- Act as liaison between the radiologist and medical staff.
n- Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
n- Develop a working knowledge of Institution medical protocols.
n- Wear outer protective clothing and obey CDC universal precautions at all times.
n- Function in other duties commensurate of a Radiological Technician.
n- Completing of all x-ray studies ordered by the medical staff and processing radiologic requests in
n- the medical record program (Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR));
n- Preparing x-rays for transmission to the radiologist for interpretation.
n- Assisting the staff with maintenance of equipment and supplies, and notifying staff when
n- supplies are needed.
n- Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on x-ray equipment as needed.
n- Assisting with FDA inspections and program review as needed.
n- Assuring all x-ray requests are completed properly, and Computerization of patient logs and repeat analysis
