All courses included in PEAK are online.nnThrough PEAK, Intermountain will pay tuition up front so caregivers won’t have to worry about paying with their own money and then receiving reimbursement laternnJob EssentialsnnEnsures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.nnPerforms MRI examinations per department protocol.nnUnderstands cross sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.nnCritiques own films.nnCompletes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.nnIn coordination with the radiologist, selects proper scanning techniques and protocols.nnDemonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration. As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers intravenous contrast material to patients.nnPractices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.nnUnderstands and operates all MRI equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced. Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging.nnIncumbent views, transfers, archives, and manipulates images.nnExhibits a working knowledge of the MRI scanner. Troubleshoots when needed and understands the shutdown and start up procedures.nnExhibits a working knowledge of the magnet, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and all relevant computer hardware and software.nnUnderstands the Quench procedure and when it should be performed.nnAdheres to and understands the MRI safety policy and the FOUR ZONE concept.nnUnderstands proper MR magnet safety in an event of an emergency.nnThoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation including time stamps and image storage.nnFollows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining consents if necessary, documenting any events that may occur for quality, maintaining a current QC program for ACR and reporting any equipment failures or problems.nnMinimum QualificationsnnARRT registered technologist.nnCurrent Utah State Licensure (for positions in Utah) in order to administer RX.nnBasic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.nnOne year of experience in MRI.nnPost-hire expectation: Meets departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire.nnPost-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the controlled substance module within six months of hire.nnPost-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.nnPost-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.nnPreferred QualificationsnnMR registered by ARRTnnPhysical Requirements:nnOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.nnFrequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.nnManual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.nnExpected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.nnNeed to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
