Position Summary:nnThis role will develop the next generation of tools and insights for people leaders and strategic decision makers across Penske. Within HR People Analytics, this role will be key in establishing Penske’s advanced and predictive analytics capabilities around topics such as engagement, process efficiency, retention, workforce planning, risk avoidance, and D&I. The Data Scientist will work on 1– 3 projects concurrently. The projects at this level are large and complex, often with organization-wide impact. This position provides analysis and develops approach and scope on each project. Such efforts require cross-functional involvement functional departments, vendors, IT, and customers.nnMajor Responsibilities:nnData Evaluation and Analysisnn• Identify appropriate data sources to answer business questionnn• Extract, blend, cleanse, and organize datann• Automate ETL processesnn• Visualize datann• Identify (and ameliorate) outliers and missing or incomplete records in the datannModel Building and Implementationnn• Identify appropriate techniques and algorithms for building modelnn• Create and test modelnn• Build application and embed modelnnIdentify Opportunities for Savings and Process Improvementnn• Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify business problemsnn• Conduct ROI analysis to determine project feasibilitynn• Help build business case for significant enterprise-wide analytics initiativesnnCommunicationnn• Engage in best practices discussions with other team members regarding modeling activitiesnn• Discuss project activities and results with teamnn• Participate in discussions about company’s big data visionnnExploring New Technologiesnn• Understand business trends in the logistics industrynn• Evaluate new technologies and determine if and how they can be appliednnOther projects and tasks as assignednnQualifications:nn• Master's Degree required with a concentration in Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, or related quantitative fieldnn• PhD preferrednn• Must have a minimum of 2+ years experience in a related fieldnn• 2 years experience designing and building machine learning applications using either structured or unstructured datasets is required. Must have practical experience programming using Python, R, or other high level scripting languages is required. Demonstrated experience with one or more machine learning techniques including logistic regression, decision trees, random forests and clustering is required.
