The Plumber is responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of sanitation units, water and gas supply lines, heating systems, and associated fixtures and appliances in residential, commercial, and industrial structures. You will also be required to design and inspect plumbing systems, perform diagnostics, and ensure they comply with regulatory codes. Along with the ability to work independently and solve problems as quickly and efficiently as possible, possessing strong technical skills, be a master at troubleshooting, and enjoy dealing with people.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

    Reading and interpreting blueprints to assess or plan plumbing installations and layouts.

    Installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems and fixtures.

  • n

    Cutting, welding and assembling pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures.

  • n
  • n

    Inspecting and testing plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance.

  • n
  • n

    Handling customer queries and responding to call outs.

  • n

    Troubleshooting and resolving problems.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Preparing cost estimates

  • n
  • n

    Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.

QUALIFICATIONS

n

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

n

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

n

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

n

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

n

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

n

REASONING ABILITY

n

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

n

This position requires the skills to be able to send and receive emails, conduct on-line research to assist in problem solving and product applications, use Word and Excel at a basic level, and be capable of learning other applications being used in the daily operations of the business.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

n

Must have a valid Driver’s License and eligibility for enrollment on the resort’s Motor Vehicle Insurance policy. Must possess State of Vermont issued master or journeyman's plumber’s license. Must pass OSHA 10 training.

n

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

n

Strong understanding of construction and maintenance practices and safe work practices.

n

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

n

Must have strong interpersonal and management skills. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid (non-weather) conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, working in high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme (non-weather) heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme (non-weather) cold, risk of electrical shock, working with explosives and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate but can be loud or very loud.

RESORT CONDITIONS

n

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area, and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Workdays and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
