Job Description
Position Summary:
The CT Technologist (CTT) will perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. The CTT will be responsible for positioning patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary, assisting radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, and assisting radiologist with interventional CT procedures. The CTT will evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label and transmit to PACS. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to scheduling patients for procedures, assisting with clerical functions, maintaining accurate patient records, providing orientation and training to new CT technologists and providing education and training to student technologists. The CTT will rotate through the on-call schedule and must be willing to report back to work during any emergency situations, this includes if needed during inclement weather, mass casualty, internal disaster, etc. The CTT will complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • CT Technologist through one of two ways required:
    • Completion of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology plus completion of an accredited CT program or;
    • Completion of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology plus on-the-job training in CT with 3 years of continued proven competence.
Experience:
  • Previous CT experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • Registered in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Registered in CT Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required (or certified within 18 months of employment.
  • Certified under the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required.
