About the Facility - Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System The Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System (ECHCS) provides comprehensive healthcare services to veterans across a wide region, including Aurora, Denver, Lakewood, Golden, La Junta, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Pueblo, Salida, Lamar, and Burlington. ECHCS offers a range of medical services such as primary care, specialty care, mental health services, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Veterans can access advanced diagnostic services, dental care, pharmacy services, and telehealth options, ensuring high-quality, accessible healthcare tailored to their needs. Surgical Technologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) - The Surgical Technologist is responsible for surgical procedures range from routine to complex high risk or trauma cases. Must be able to circulate the full range of surgical procedures performed in the operating room.
- Provide all basic requirements expected of a Surgical/OR Technologist, from patient pre-op and post-op responsibilities to maintaining cleanliness and inventory of sterile supplies and tools in the OR.
- Transport patients from hospital units to the OR assuring safe transportation of the patient. Screen patients prior to transport to ensure preoperative medications have been given and jewelry, dentures and any prosthetic devices have been removed.
- The Surgical Technologist documents all patient care given and the progress of the patient.
- Provide Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and Anesthetists during induction and throughout procedure.
- The Surgical Technologist comforts patients fearing surgery. Contact with family and significant others to provide information, counseling, emotional support, alleviate anxiety, fear, and stress concerning patient condition and/or prognosis.
Surgical Technologist - REQUIREMENTS - Must have a minimum of 1 year experience within the last three years as a certified Surg Tech/OR Tech.
- Must have and maintain certification from NBSTSA as a CST.
- Must have and maintain current BLS certification by the American Heart Association or client standards.
