Job Posting: Sr. Accounts Receivable Specialist/Sr. Accountant
Location: Lyndhurst, New Jersey (Work from home 3 days per week)
Starting Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 dependent upon experience
Hours: 8:30 - 4:30 pm
About the Role:
We're looking for an independent and proactive Sr. Accounts Receivable Specialist/Sr. Accountant to our join our client's small, close-knit AR Department of four. This is considered a priority hire!
Job Description/Responsibilities:
• Reviewed Accounts Receivable aging and followed up on past due accounts
• Handled daily bank receipts posting and application
• Processed credit card payments
• Reviewed and resolved chargebacks/payment discrepancies in a timely manner
• Provided timely review and identification of disputes, obtaining supporting documentation in coordination with other departments where required
• Ensured invalid/unauthorized deductions were repaid
• Assisted with the month-end closing process
• Reconciled and closed the A/R ledger each month
Requirements and Key Skills/Competencies:
• Integrity and dependability
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a collections analyst, accounts receivable specialist, or accountant
• Understanding of basic accounting principles
• Proficiency in Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, "IF" formulas, etc.)
• Bachelor's degree
• Customer service-oriented with great negotiation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to engage in process improvement initiatives
• Fluency in French is a plus
• Experience with RLM is a plus
• Preferred experience in retail/consumer goods or wholesale
Must Haves:
• Bachelor's degree
• Experience in both Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounting
• Ability to make journal entries (j/e) and participate in month-end (m/e) close
• Independent thinker with a proactive attitude
• Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
Great to Have:
o Fluency in English and French (not required, but helpful for handling Canadian-based clientele)
o Prior experience with department stores or similar environments
o Preferred experience working with Macy's, Nordstrom, Amazon, Target, HBC, and others
