Responsibilities

Purpose:
n
A Diagnostic Radiographer is responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures on patients of all ages which requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis and for assuming responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

Radiology Essential Functions (including, but not limited to):
n
n - Support the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.
n - Must prepare radiograph equipment, position patients correctly and accurately capture the requested diagnostic images.
n - Accurately places exams in appropriate computer systems for proper completion and reporting.
n - Radiologic technologists must protect the patient’s safety during the X-ray procedure following ALARA and department radiation safety procedures.
n - All exams are properly identified with correct patient information, markers and technologist initials.
n - Ensures department equipment is clean, orderly and ready for use. Any abnormalities, errors or malfunctions are reported to the manager.
n - Completes exams in a timely fashion.
n - Transports patients as necessary.
n - Must be able to closely follow physician instructions and orders.
n - Adheres to radiology quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, and performs required calibration and/or maintenance of radiologic equipment.
n - Follows department policies and procedures for exam performance/technique.
n - Rotates shifts, call and holiday hours as required by the department.
n - Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.
n - Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member.
n - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
n - Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
n - Performs secretarial duties as necessary.
n - Attends and participates in continuing education programs.

Qualifications
n
n - High School Diploma or GED required.
n - Associate Degree in a Radiologic Technology preferred. Certificate from an Education Program Accredited by the JRCERT required.
n - Certified and holds current registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
n - Holds current Permit to Practice radiology in the state of Iowa.
n - Previous Radiologic and Computed Tomography Experience Required
n - Competency in computers, windows environment.
n - Interpersonal, and collaborative skills necessary.
n - Embraces change and able to handle multiple demands at one time.
n - Ability to cope with physical and emotional demands in a constantly changing environment.
n - BCLS Required
n - IV Certification Preferred
n - Knowledge of radiographic procedures and departmental policies/procedures.
