Growing together.nnThe Ultrasound Technologist II is responsible for maintenance of registration and active CME’s in ultrasound in order to provide excellent service. This also includes creating a tranquil environment, so patients will be able to adhere to examination instructions.nnPrimary Responsibilities:nnIdentify anatomical orientation on all required images and assures proper file identification on all imagesnnDemonstrate competency performing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the operation of all related equipmentnnGreet patients, obtain history, and enters information in computer systemnnScan according to guidelinesnnMaintain logs; process paperwork for biopsiesnnUtilize sterile techniques preventing contaminationnnMaintain quality standards as it relates to HIPPA regulationsnnResponsible for all clinical aspects of ultrasonography suite; maintains cleanliness of examination rooms. Stock necessary medical and radiologic suppliesnnAssists in the completing of the accreditation process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) every three yearsnnMaintain CPR certificationnnObserve patient vital signs during examinationnnProvide coverage as needed (i.e., in the event of call outs or extended patient schedules)nnProvide instruction/mentoring to new hiresnnProvide a positive patient experience; share information with patients, providing knowledge about the procedure; ensuring they are aware of follow-up steps and requirementsnnMaintain communication with radiologists and other physicians, patients and their families, and other personsnnConsistently submit images of diagnostic quality without recommendation of additional image acquisition; performs quality assurance on images and equipment; demonstrated competency in utilizing systemsnnContribute to efficient out-patient operations, maximizing the productivity of assigned modalitynnReview each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to person responsible for the care of patients following the procedurennDemonstrated teamwork; interacts in a positive manner with employees and contributes to a collaborative work environmentnnMeet or exceed deadlines, follows through, demonstrating accountability, flexibility and adaptabilitynnEnhance professional growth and maintain certifications, registration and active CME’s through education programs, conferences, and workshopsnnAcquire patients’ chart date/requisition and reviews both to determine correct set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needsnnEducate patients regarding procedure, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and safetynnYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.nnRequired Qualifications:nnHigh school diploma or equivalentnnCompletion of an accredited course in ultrasonographynnARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certificationnnPreferred Qualifications:nnAssociate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography or sonographynn5+ years of experience as an Ultrasound TechnologistnnDemonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructionsnnDemonstrated ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organizationnnDemonstrated ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department’s computerized system and its associated devicesnnPhysical Demands:nnRequires standing and walking for extended periods of timennAbility to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 poundsnnAbility to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds and place them in appropriate positions for operation of equipmentnnRequires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed filmsnnNew York Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $28.03 to $54.95 per hour.
