We are seeking a results-oriented individual to work as a Commission Accounting Specialist in a fast paced and rapidly growing environment. This position will process monthly agent/broker commissions paid to CBIZ by various insurance carriers and will work directly with carriers to resolve discrepancies regarding commission reversals, overpayments, etc.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties:
* Enter commissions received into commission accounting systems in an accurate and timely manner
* Ensure batch totals entered into accounting systemreconcile to the amount recorded in the Deposit Register. Any differences are to be investigated and resolved
* Resolve a full range of internal and external requests (i.e. discrepancies)
* Perform clerical work such as scanning, running reports, Filing, copying, faxing etc.
* Assist with training on subject matter (i.e. commission accounting tasks)
* Become proficient in the use of commission accounting system and understand the ramifications of data entered and its impact on the financial operations of the company
* Additional responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Requirements:
* Accounting and insurance experience or accounting education
* Basic math skills
* Proficient use of Excel
* Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple responsibilities
Minimum Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED required
* Bachelor's Degree or two years of experience
* Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
* Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
* Effective customer service skills
* Proficient use of applicable technology
* Ability to work in team environment as well as independently
* Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple responsibilities
