Req Number 123868nnJob DescriptionnnAssists physician during radiographic special procedures. Performs diagnostic and special procedure exams.nnJob ResponsibilitynnAs primary assistant gains knowledge of both performing the various procedures and has familiarity with the instruments/medications used in order to ensure patient safety.nnAdheres to proper sterile technique at all times prior to and during the procedure. Prepares set up trays and patient preparation prior to procedure.nnHas primary responsibility for calling time-out prior to start of all procedure or at any point in the procedure when it is required.nnMaintains a Flouro log for all procedures.nnFamiliarity with catheter and guide wire exchange techniques as well as arterial and venous access.nnStrong knowledge of the usage of different catheter, guide wire, sheaths, contrasts, carbon dioxide and injector setup.nnKnowledge of various exams and different types of supply set up needed ex. biopsy, drainage, run-off, angioplasty, etc.nnPerforms proper patient positioning during various stages of an examination.nnKnowledge of what parts of the procedure are to be imaged and can manipulate images after procedure to provide optimal imaging.nnKnowledge of and can assist in wound care and dressing related to interventional procedures.nnInteracts with patients on a professional and compassionate level before, during and after the procedure.nnDisplays knowledge of all contrast agents, their indications and contraindications.nnExhibits strong communication skills with fellow technologist, nurses and doctors throughout the institution.nnSelects proper technical factors relative to procedure, patients size and condition.nnRecognizes equipment failure troubleshoots basic problems. Notifies appropriate service engineer and management staff.nnMaintains and expedites patient turnover (request transport, call environmental and informs MD of the next patient in a timely fashion). Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion.nnWorks with billing clerk to ensure proper billing for supplies.nnMaintains logbook for all procedures performed and can file and retrieve from all storage devices.nnKnowledge of all aspects of patient scheduling, can schedule a patient when necessary.nnObserves departmental radiation safety procedures to maintain occupational exposure as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA)nnDemonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patients needs as appropriate to the ages of the patients served.nnDemonstrates the ability to work in a dynamic atmosphere sometimes involving a stressful and strenuous situation.nnDemonstrates a thorough knowledge of vascular anatomy.nnDemonstrates the ability to anticipate the needs of the physician during the procedure.nnPractice universal precautions with all patients.nnMaintains Inventory levels and orders supplies when necessary.nnFollows infection control guidelines set by the institution.nnProficient in entering, retrieving and accessing information using the departments RIS system, as well as PACS.nnDesignates assignments and distributes work to transport staff as necessary.nnTransports patients when necessary to expedite examinations and or patient satisfaction.nnInterfaces with patient, staff and physicians both within and external to the department to facilitate the improvement of the patient experience in every possible way.nnWorks continuously to improve Press Ganey scores via patient satisfaction.nnPerforms related duties as required.nn*ADA Essential FunctionsnnPHYSICAL DEMANDS:nnConstant standing, walking. Frequent stooping, bending stretching, lifting positioning, pulling, and transferring patients. Occasional sitting. Frequently lifts or moves objects. Occasionally carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently pushes patients or objects up to 200 pounds occasionally moves with assistance patients or objects greater than 250 pounds.nnJob QualificationnnGraduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program, required.nnNew York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.nnMinimum of two (2) years experience as a Radiology Technologist, required.
