The Lead CVT/CVIT Coordinator is a Registered Radiologic Technologist with advanced certification in Cardio Vascular-Interventional (CV), or Cardiac-Interventional (CI). With supervision and direction from the Director of Cardiac & Vascular Services and the Supervisor/Manager of the Cardiac Cath Lab, he/she will function as the cath lab CCW superuser and manage CCW system configuration, overall setup and performance of the CCW system within the cath lab. The Lead CVT/CVIT Coordinator will provide approximately half time lead technologist coverage in the cath lab and will be responsible for technical oversight of the Cardiac Cath Lab, including procedures, inventory, and equipment management. He/she shall be on-call in a rotation with other Cardiac Cath Lab Technologists consistent with the degree of clinical coverage. The Lead CVT/CVIT Coordinator supports the Mission of Frederick Health Hospital and complies with the hospital's Code of Conduct.
Example of Essential Functions: - Assists Cardiologists during invasive angiographic and interventional procedures utilizing accepted procedural techniques to maximize patient safety.
- Performs proper patient positioning; selects proper technical factors.
- Assesses patient response during procedure.
- Monitors ECG and hemodynamic parameters.
- Administers contrast material and medication in the presence of a physician who is directing the administration and dosage of medication.
- Transmits images to PACS for interpretation and for permanent record.
- Expert in X-ray/Imaging system technology.
- Analyzes and provides input on equipment acquisition, use and maintenance.
- Analyze data, provide recommendations regarding supplies and inventory management, develops, and runs supply/inventory reports as appropriate.
- Monitors and audits billing and charging practices.
- Assumes responsibility of day-to-day operations in absence of Cath Lab Supervisor/Manager.
- Ensures CVT schedule is complete to meet staffing requirements.
- Delegates appropriate tasks to other CVTs.
- Provides CVT performance feedback as needed to Cath Lab Supervisor/Manager.
- Ensures completion of CVT new employee orientation and x ray training with all staff.
- Updating MD/staff/administrator user lists.
- Updating supply/procedure other lists.
- Identify CVIT and/or equipment issues and escalate and/or problem solve as appropriate.
- Firstline contact for application questions.
- Manages cath lab CCW system by:
- Identifies CVT staff training needs and provides appropriate education and communication.
- Works collaboratively with PACs administrator, Biomed, and IT departments.
- Independently reviews and provides reports to supervisor, director and other FHH administrators.
- Audits patient charges (supply and procedural) to ensure accuracy and consistency with appropriate guidelines. Communicates patient charge issues to supervisor/director and educates technologists as appropriate.
- Responsible for obtaining optimal images to provide the Cardiologist with information to assure that an accurate diagnosis is rendered.
- Evaluates images with Cardiologist.
- Monitors equipment status indicators to prevent damage.
- Reports equipment malfunctions with accuracy and timeliness.
- Applies Standard Precautions and sterile technique.
- Applies proper radiation protection according to prescribed safety standards.
- Participates and oversees Cath Lab radiation safety compliance, attends meetings as necessary.
- Serves on and actively participates in project teams, task forces, committees and special assignments as needed.
- Takes emergency call as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Possess excellent customer relation skills.
- Good Communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle stress during periods of high service demand and low staffing.
- Microsoft Office and key boarding skills required
- Demonstrated proficiency with GE Centricity Cardiology workflow.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required: - Graduate of a JCERT approved program in Radiologic Technology.
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT-R with Advanced Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV) or Cardiac Interventional (CI) preferred.
- Licensed as a Certified Medical Radiographer by the Maryland Board of Physicians.
- Minimum of two years' experience as a Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist.
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
