DescriptionnnJob SummarynnProduces radiographs of various anatomical parts for diagnostic purposes as directed by the Orthopedic Physician.nnEssential Job FunctionsnnVerifies pertinent data about the patient and procedure.nnVerifies patient identification using two identifiers.nnVerifies the physician order.nnReviews the physician order to determine the optimal imaging procedure for suspected pathology.nnVerifies the patient's pregnancy status when appropriate.nnProvides information to the patient about the procedure.nnVerifies the patient has consented to the procedure.nnProvides accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient understands.nnAnalyzes the information obtained during assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis.nnAssesses factors that may contraindicate procedure.nnSelects appropriate shielding and immobilization devices.nnObtains optimum images during exam/procedure.nnSets adjusts radiographic equipment.nnPositions patients to obtain diagnostic images per physician direction.nnUtilizes equipment to maximize images.nnDevelops films for review by the physician.nnMaintains storage of developed films.nnDocuments accurate information about patient and exam.nnAccurately marks films with patient identifiers, name/SSNnnAccurately marks films with R & L or other markers per protocol.nnMaintains equipment and workstation in optimum condition.nnPerforms daily QC on radiographic equipment.nnAssure adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained.nnPerforms other duties of medical assistant and/or medical secretary on an as needed basis within physician office setting to ensure an efficient work flow for Orthopedic practice.nnChecks in patient by gathering the appropriate demographic information and verification of samennAssists physician/physician assistant/extended by rooming patients and prepares x-ray image for viewing in exam roomnnAssists physician/physician assistant/extended as needed to ensure expedition of patient carennChecks out patient by scheduling return appointment as necessarynnCalls for authorization of MRI and surgical procedures as needednnMay complete forms/faxes as necessary as they regard to the patients treatment and follow upnnMay assist in surgical scheduling as needednnOther duties as assigned.nnRequired QualificationsnnCompletion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program.nnRelated training/experience (preferably within the past five years)nnStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.nnStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.nnPreferred QualificationsnnMedical TerminologynnOne-year medical-surgical experiencennLicense, Certification & ClearancesnnCurrent Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)nnCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.nnAct 33 with renewalnnAct 34 with renewalnnAct 73 FBI ClearancennSupervisory ResponsibilitiesnnThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.nnPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorknnIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).nnTravel may be expected locally between Excela Health locations.nnLEANnnActively promotes a Lean work culture by performing team member duties to encourage consistent use of LEAN principles and processes, including continually seeking work process improvements.
