The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist at Vassar Brothers Medical Center plays a vital role in producing high-quality diagnostic CT images while ensuring the safety and comfort of patients. This role involves performing CT scans following established protocols, coordinating patient throughput, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate timely throughput for CT patients, prioritizing exams based on urgency.
2. Properly identify patients using two identifiers, verify imaging orders, and assess pregnancy risk before proceeding with exams.
3. Explain procedures to patients with professionalism and compassion.
4. Perform IV cannulation and iStat testing as prescribed, adhering to aseptic techniques and state regulations.
5. Position patients for optimal imaging, select appropriate imaging protocols, and adjust exposure techniques as needed.
6. Operate power injectors for contrast media administration under supervision, ensuring compliance with department policies.
7. Demonstrate proficiency in radiation safety practices and operate post-processing workstations effectively.
8. Critique exams for completeness, ensure accurate labeling, and verify exams within the hospital's RIS and PACS systems.
9. Follow infection control and safety guidelines, maintain cleanliness of equipment and exam rooms.
10. Coordinate patient care, including transportation and communication with nursing units, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
11. Notify supervisors of equipment malfunctions and initiate appropriate maintenance procedures.
12. Model and uphold Nuvance Health values in all interactions and duties.
13. Maintain regular, reliable attendance and document accordingly in the scheduling/payroll system.
14. Perform other duties as required.

License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:

• American College of Radiology (ARRT) CT Certification
• Valid New York State (NYS) Radiological License with Injection
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
