DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Some primary responsibilities of the Database Administrator 2 include the design, development, implementation, and support of efficient and effective databases with varying product version and licensed features, as well as the planning and implementation of database reorganization and conversion maintenance. You will also manage system performance through the use of system diagnostic tools and reports, and participate in IT planning activities with application development and operations personnel with regard to establishing database access techniques and data base performance issues. Excellent leadership skills are employed to supervise three staff members for further Oracle Database support and engineering.
You will also provide architectural oversight for large database installations, working with other Database Administrators to develop the final working model for new and existing systems, in addition to performing a full-range of database management activities. This professional provides technical direction to other division personnel in accomplishing the objectives of the work unit and the Database Administration Services Division.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, however you must report to the office at least once per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Database Administrator 1; or
  • Four years of information technology experience that includes three years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • Six years of information technology experience that includes three years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration; or
  • Two years of information technology experience in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
  • This particular position also requires at least 4 years of experience supporting Oracle Database in a High Availability (HA) environment.
