Job Overview:
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented IT Support Technician to join our team. The IT Support Technician will be responsible for managing IT hardware inventory, asset management, imaging laptops, and providing essential end-user support. This role is vital in ensuring smooth IT operations across the organization and assisting users with technical issues, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Hardware Inventory & Asset Management:
- Maintain and track all IT hardware assets, including laptops, desktops, printers, and other devices.
- Ensure proper documentation for the acquisition, movement, and disposal of hardware.
- Regularly update inventory records, ensuring accurate stock levels and status reports.
- Collaborate with vendors and the purchasing department for hardware procurement and lifecycle management.
Laptop Imaging & Deployment:
- Prepare and deploy laptops and other devices for new employees and system upgrades.
- Create and manage custom system images for quick and efficient deployment.
- Install required software, security updates, and configure settings for end-user devices.
- Ensure devices are properly configured to meet security and organizational standards before deployment.
End-User Support:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Respond promptly to IT support requests via helpdesk tickets, phone, or email.
- Assist users with software installation, upgrades, and configuration.
- Support remote employees with troubleshooting and resolving IT-related issues.
- Document and escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when needed.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain clear documentation for IT procedures, inventory logs, and support tickets.
- Provide periodic reports on inventory, asset utilization, and end-user support metrics.
- Create user guides and knowledge base articles to assist employees in resolving common IT issues.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or a related field.
- Experience with imaging and deploying operating systems on laptops or desktops is a plus.
- Familiarity with asset management software and inventory systems.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of IT hardware, including laptops, desktops, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Proficiency in Windows and macOS operating systems, along with common software applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized with excellent time-management skills.
Certifications (Preferred but not required):
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or other relevant certifications.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, or similar tools is an advantage.
