Summary: Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of the ongoing competency of clinical staff. Responsibilities: Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of all education activities on assigned unit(s). Uses the best available evidence to guide practice decisions. May perform clinical patient care when needed. Manages the onboarding and orientation of all new employees and students on assigned unit(s). Collaborates with nursing leaders and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff. Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. Participates in research activities, quality improvement, or evidence-based practice initiatives. Supports an environment that promotes evidence based nursing practice based on nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. Serves as a consultant/mentor/change agent for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development. Plans, updates, and evaluates clinical competencies to assess quality of patient care delivered and ensure regulatory compliance on assigned unit(s).
