SUMMARYThe Senior Manager, Benefits is responsible for analyzing, designing, and administering the organization's employee benefit programs including worker's compensation, medical, dental, vision, life, disability plans, 401(k), wellness, voluntary benefits, and paid time off.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Ensure all benefit plans are in compliance with the organization's policies and procedures and regulatory requirements (ERISA, DOL, ACA, HIPAA, OSHA, ADA, FMLA, and etc.).
- Partners with senior leadership team and leads the benefits renewal process, pricing, and strategy. Ensures programs are equitable, meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and are cost effective.
- Responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the organization's workers' compensation program, including implementing all aspects of the program such as claim investigations, settlements, and litigation.
- Oversees and manages open enrollment for benefits, including preparation of open enrollment materials and announcements, system configuration, and system testing.
- Update and maintain the HRIS systems, which includes ensuring that file feeds from the HRIS systems to the correct vendors are working properly, maintaining data integrity in the HRIS database through daily maintenance of carrier files, resolving data errors, and updating data.
- Administrator of company Retirement Plan(s) to ensure they meet all ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations, including regular audits and partnering with stakeholders in filing Form 5500 and other required reports. Develop and maintain retirement plan policies and procedures, ensuring clear guidelines for plan administration and adherence to best practices.
- Conduct periodic audits of benefit programs, procedures, policies, and workflows to ensure efficiencies and compliance. Develop processes that improve department and end user efficiency and enhance overall benefit process productivity.
- Process all monthly benefit premium invoices for approval and payment, and scans documents for retention; ensures timely payment to vendors; initiates monthly reconciliation of benefit plan deductions by validating/correcting inaccuracies between HRIS and vendor systems.
- Assist in the development of strategic total rewards plans, goals, and objectives to increase employee motivation, improve productivity, and aid in retention and job performance.
- Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
- Measurable Outcomes: Achieve regulatory compliance. Ensure fairness of benefit plans as key person to build strategic total rewards plans for the organization to drive employee satisfaction, talent retention, and overall organizational success.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES- The Senior Manager, Benefits directly manages all associates assigned to the Benefits team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of related experience. 3+ years of management experience.
- Experience in a leadership role and developing and mentoring employees.
- Administrative experience and full understanding of Retirement Plan(s) required.
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- HRIS experience in Workday highly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications, data query tools, word processing software, electronic mail, and internet search tools.
- Risk management, driving execution, and strategic agility.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES- LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of generally accepted Human Resources principles.
- REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
