Job Highlights - This position will be responsible for synthesizing new materials for top clients and collaborating closely (Weekly) with them in the development of new products.
- Additionally, the Senior/Expert Scientist will support the scale-up of the synthesized product, including the quality and optimization of the chemistry.
- Provide manufacturing plant support on processes/technologies they are unfamiliar with and carrying them through that learning curve.
- Ideal candidate will be recognized both internally and externally (nationally) as expert in technology platform area as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, patents and major contributions to the success of the company through technical achievement.
- Demonstrates "hands on" approach and enthusiasm to working in the laboratory synthesizing leading edge urethane chemistry for existing and new applications in CASE applications (with a focus on hot cast elastomers).
- Proactively identifies, assesses and develops novel urethane technologies through applied research and global cross-functional collaboration; repeatedly crates high impact business value.
- Builds global patent position for our technologies and builds freedom to operate into our new products.
- Provides urethane chemistry know-how expertise to support global production plants with quality issue resolutions, learning curve for technology transfer, and with new production processes.
- Exhibits in depth business know-how and sought by upper leadership of advice of technology direction of the company as well as provides technical mentorship to all levels of technical stuff and acts as mentor to professionals in other functions.
- Leads academic and cross-industry collaborations and proactively identifies innovation opportunities.
Requirements - Education: PhD in Organic Chemistry or similar field (Synthetic Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in synthetic organic chemistry/polymer chemistry is required, Urethanes specific experience is highly desired.
- This position also requires previous experience working in international projects/companies; strong project management experience; and demonstrated experience leading and/or mentoring a technical team.
- Successful candidate will have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Travel is required to production sites or clients on an as needed basis, approximately 10%-15%.
