SummaryThe Pokémon Company International, Inc. (TPCi) has an opening for a junior to mid-level privacy attorney to join our legal team. This attorney will take part in all aspects of the privacy program and provide legal advice and counseling to business partners on a wide range of legal matters in privacy and data protection.
What You'll Do- Engage in all aspects of the privacy program as a legal advisor and subject matter expert on privacy and data protection, ranging from routine reviews to assisting with data protection programs.
- Review, revise, and negotiate data protection agreements and other contracts. Coordinate with business teams to assess processing activities and draft documentation such as impact assessments. Review data subject requests and advise on response.
- Advise on day-to-day privacy and data security issues and provide guidance on new and existing services, products, and features to ensure compliance, both for consumer-facing products and internal enterprise projects.
- Develop work product such as policies and guidance documents, as well as live training and written advice materials for the business.
- Assist with the ongoing development of data protection programs and data use strategy.
- Monitor and measure privacy compliance. Coordinate with business teams to assess processing activities, and draft documentation such as records of processing and impact assessments. Draft and negotiate data protection agreements and other contracts. Develop work product such as policies, guidance, and training for the business.
- Other work within the privacy program and Legal team as it arises.
- Keep up to date with evolution of relevant law, policy, and best practices.
What You'll Bring- Attorney practicing in privacy and data protection with 3 or more years of experience.
- J.D. from an accredited law school or equivalent degree.
- Bar license in good standing; admission to the Washington State Bar or other state bar required; if admitted to other state bar, must successfully register with the Washington State Bar.
- Wide experience advising on privacy, data protection, and data security legal matters. Knowledge and experience with global privacy compliance and regulatory environment. Transactional experience, including work on Data Protection Agreements.
- Knowledge around data analytics, adtech, marketing privacy, mobile apps and games, web design, account systems, databases, project management, are a strong plus.
- Experience advising on legal matters in children's privacy, entertainment, and/or gaming is a big plus.
- Experience with business software platforms (Sharepoint, Jira, ERP systems), privacy platforms (e.g. OneTrust), and legal operations platforms (e.g. LawVu), are a plus..
- IAPP or other relevant certifications a plus.
- Additional languages and international experience always a plus.
Base Salary Range: For this role, new hires generally start between $104,000.00 - $123,500.00 per year. The full range is $104,000.00 - $157,000.00 per year. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. The final base salary is directly related to the candidate's qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
