Job Title: Director of Engineering

Department: Engineering

Reports To: VP of Product Development

FLSA Status: Exempt

Compensation Base Range: $145,000.00 - $165,000.00 Annually

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Director of Engineering will plan and direct the resources and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. They will establish research and concept development projects and capabilities to innovate new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. They will build and oversee teams of varying engineering functions including mechanical design, test, and service functions. They will be responsible for collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products support the organization's financial goals. This is an onsite role and would require living in Colorado and five days in the office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Be a REP Product and industry product expert
  • Ensure deliverables meet high-quality standards, including regulatory and safety compliance utilizing engineering best practices
  • Create functional strategies, objectives, and develop budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure
  • Design strategies for future development projects based on the company's overall objectives and resources
  • Oversee and continue to build engineering teams consisting of mechanical design, sustaining, service, test, drafters, and fabricators both domestic and foreign
  • Provide effective leadership to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel and equipment, to optimize productivity and project outcomes
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of product development and supporting tools and technologies
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Monitor reliability and performance of all internal systems, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement within the department, streamlining workflows and increasing efficiency
  • Exhibit a strong aptitude for problem-solving, making informed decisions to address challenges that arise during projects
  • Willingness to dive into technical details when necessary, demonstrating a "hands-on" approach to problem-solving
  • Assess and mitigate risks with projects, making informed decisions to minimize potential negative impacts
  • Work with inventors to incorporate licensed technology into REP products.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Delegates authority to carry out work of a unit to subordinate supervisors or managers.


WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Experience as a director of engineering or in a similar senior-level position at an engineering department.
  • Extensive experience with cloud technologies and modern human-computer interfaces.
  • Hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development.
  • Good understanding of agile methodologies.
  • Leadership abilities with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent project management skills.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field, master's degree preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years' experience as an Engineering Manager within Product Development. Experience within the fitness space preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of the managed sub-functions and solid knowledge of the overall departmental functions.
