Overview:

2020 Companies is seeking an experienced Director of retail sales to lead our growing team of energy sales associates.

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Director of retail sales, you are responsible for successfully leading a multi-state team of retail sales associates representing our energy service provider client, NRG. Working through your team of Regional and District Sales Managers, you'll work to recruit, train, and motivate the sales team with a focus on sales quality and leadership development. With travel throughout the region, and working within a retail environment, you will effectively train, coach and mentor reps on delivering sales training, brand awareness, product knowledge, sales techniques, and assisting with any issues.

Internal summary

The Director will work under the direction of the program Vice President to successfully manage a field team of managers and representatives across multiple major retail markets. The Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the territory, clients, and retailers, to understand and exceed client goals; and will effectively hire, train, coach, and provide performance feedback for their employees.

Job Description
  • Manage, motivate, direct and coordinate activities of team members to meet and/or exceed sales and project goals
  • Accurately create opportunity assessment, market evaluation.
  • Develop client/production roadmap I the long, mid and short term incorporating customer needs, input, and feedback from internal and external groups.
  • Benchmark performance against internal and external goals
  • Personally accountable for team members and all documentation pertaining to team productivity
  • Responsible to accurately track sales, events, and merchandising projects
  • Successfully develop and build territory relationships through networking
  • Effectively provide daily direction, training, and guidance while ensuring the retention of the team
  • Successfully determine staffing requirements in accordance with client and company directives
  • Ensure proper training of sales techniques, products, policies, etc.
  • Administer and document all counselling's and terminations accurately and in a timely manner while following established procedures
  • Contribute to team effort by assisting in launch-related activities, as needed
  • Travel to locations regularly throughout the territory
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures
  • Attend meetings and conference calls as required in and out of regions as needed
  • Assist in temporarily overseeing retail locations as business needs dictate
  • Dress and act professionally at all times
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Performance Measurements:
  • Ensure team meets established weekly/monthly projects goals/quotas
  • Customer/client satisfaction based on the territory's rejection percentages and substantiated complaints
  • Maintain proper head-count across regions

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree a plus
  • 7-10 years retail and sales management experience required
  • Must have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide concise monthly business summaries, and deliver presentations to all levels.
  • Superior leadership abilities with effective, professional communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop high level of credibility and positive professional working relationships with team members, peers and upper management.
  • Successfully motivate staff and effectively resolve performance issues.
  • Proven ability to show good judgment and initiative, make decisions and problem solve
  • Capable to work autonomously with excellent time management skills
  • Must be able to travel 50% of the year to various markets across the US and work flexible hours
  • Ability to manage by P&L standards across the entire business unit
  • Reliable transportation and proof of insurance
