To assist us in our growth in North America this regulatory engineer will be responsible for regulatory and agency-related items for the unitary/central AC and light commercial HVAC strategies for the North American Residential Air Conditioning team. The core focus areas include state and federal regulatory strategy, compliance, and test standards for gas furnace and AHU products.
Essential Job Responsibilities:- Lead the external agency and regulatory affairs engagement for gas furnace products, developing a regulatory strategy informed by overall product strategy and division alignment.
- Actively participate in AHRI, ASHRAE, and industry committees to proactively develop new technical testing standards, certification and compliance procedures including key DOE & Energy Star testing standards.
- Assist product planning with expertise in building code guidelines and regional specific design requirements, as well as having knowledge of the differences in various regions of the US and the impact those differences have on product planning and design.
- Assist other engineers with design-related issues & problem solving.
- Help with new product field tests for the category - assist with safety & compliance requirements.
- Review product literature, packaging, rating labels, etc. for product compliance and ensuring products meet various agency requirements.
- Assist product team with competitive analysis/teardowns and market research to gain insights, ensuring product plan and overall strategy is updated per the regulatory trends.
- Support the regulatory and engineering teams on other products as necessary (Ductless, HPWH, PTHP, etc.)
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 5+ years' experience with air conditioning products or related field.
- Familiarity with product development.
- Goal-oriented & self-managed.
- Excellent communication skills with strong analytical and technical writing.Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to adapt written and verbal communications effectively depending on internal or external audience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in a similar field from an accredited university.
- History of collaborating with global colleagues.
- Residential furnace or air handler product experience with compliance and/or testing experience.
- Familiarity with regulatory process and standards.
