Dow Jones is seeking a business-minded, entrepreneurial newsletter editor to join the Dow Jones Leadership Institute (DJLI). The Dow Jones Leadership Institute connects our readers with a diverse slate of top industry leaders, thinkers and newsmakers, while igniting conversation across communities online. We currently find ourselves in a period of growth and transformation as the team has moved from producing in-person conferences and festivals to a full calendar of hybrid events.
The Newsletter Editor will be responsible for creating and curating our daily newsletter to send to members of DJLI on behalf of the leadership team, ensuring we are connecting the right content with our readers to provide insightful, thought-provoking and industry-leading readership experiences.
We need an editor capable of handling news, sharp commentary and thoughtful analysis, as well as deeply reported features. Enthusiasm for new storytelling formats and a willingness to experiment with video, audio and emerging platforms are essential. Excellent line editing and headline-writing skills are a must.
The right candidate will have experience in both creating content and understanding leaders in the business world, balancing the power of the WSJ journalism with the information the business world wants to read.
This position will be based in our New York office.
You will:
+ Develop ideas for rich and engaging content that cover a wide range of business topics.
+ Create the first draft of daily newsletter, including both original insightful content and curating the right content from across the Journal and other sources for readers.
+ Partner closely with the President of DJLI on thought leadership and business insights to convey to readers.
+ Source, build and manage relationships with a diverse set of business, finance, cultural and political leaders featured at Journal events.
+ Edit and help shape the direction of our coverage.
You have:
+ A love for research and reporting, with a drive for producing exclusive and original content for the Journal audience.
+ The ability to manage a story and work collaboratively across teams
+ Editing experience or outstanding writing skills if you haven't edited before, specifically in creating insights-driven content for mass market readers.
+ An entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to adapt.
+ A facility with charts, social media or other aspects of digital financial journalism.
+ Deep knowledge of the global business community, with a healthy track record of relationships with leaders in that space.
+ A strong sense for the key topics business leaders are interested in.
+ An ability to juggle multiple priorities in a calm, collected and organized manner.
+ 10+ years of relevant experience.
