Novick Corporation is a food distribution company that specializes in servicing foodservice clients in childcare centers and educational settings. Members of the team work with our childcare partners to provide healthier snack and meal options. Because we specialize in childcare, we have a full range of offerings, including food, cleaning, and paper supplies. Our ancillary services allow us to partner with our clients to help fulfill each individual program's goals for the health of their children. Services include menu planning with our nutritionists, nutritional training, portioning and serving guidelines, Serve Safe, inventory and cost control assistance, access to healthier child-friendly product and recipes, and more.
Qualifications and Requirements
Superior Communication Skills:
The Business Manager will serve in our Finance Department, reporting to the SVP of Finance, and must have superior communication skills and the ability to convey empathy while adhering to company policy when resolving employee complaints. The Business Manager must be able to communicate across various levels from warehouseman and driver to executive level management, as well as with various clients and vendors professionally both verbally as well as in the written form.
Time Management and Organizational Skills:
As our Business Manager will work closely with our Corporate Controller and Human Resource Departments, it is imperative that the person in this position is organized and detail oriented. The Business Manager will have access to several different computer programs to assist with organization and time management.
Problem-Solving Skills:
The Business Manager must have superior critical thinking, supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills.
Experience and Knowledge of:
Must have In-depth knowledge of several computer programs to include the following: Microsoft Office (to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, and the internet. The Business Manager must also have a knowledge of Eagle, E-Foods, Raven, RoadNet, CRM, and other Novick programs.
Preferred: Extensive accounting/finance experience on a managerial level for an service or distribution company (minimum of 5 years)
Equipment Used:
The Business Manager must be familiar with how to operate the following equipment: Computer (laptop, desktop); Telephone (multiline land line, cell phone); Fax, Copier, Printer, Scanner, Adding machine
Scheduling and Working Conditions:
The Business Manager will typically work between 45-55 hours per week with time being split between analysis and Finance responsibilities.
Responsibilities Include:
Primary Responsibilities:
• Create and analyze KPI excel spreadsheets for tracking by department
• Payroll every other week through ADP processing
• Review, update and increase products to maintain GP%
• Assist with creation of yearly budgets by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data
• Oversee General Ledger and Balance Sheet monthly.
• Assist with recruiting and job ad placements, , recruiting out-reach programs.
• Assist with smooth onboarding for new hires including creating and revamping training material needed by position• Assist Controller with management of safeguarding assets
• Reviews weekly and monthly revenue and profitability forecasts
• Assist with cash flow reporting for the company and report daily.
• Ensure all Account Payables are paid within company standard.• Oversee collection of all outstanding company receivables.
• Report revenue data and KPI for each department• Prepare Ad Hoc reports as requested.• Manage outside vendor relationships.
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Review of profitability and make recommendations for higher productivity.
• Research and assist with purchase vehicles and maintenance agreements
• Create, execute and maintain warehouse services for new refrigerated/freezer space
• Explore additional revenue with third party carriers on weekends.
• Oversee inventory processes and adjustments created by Inventory Manager
• Review and evaluate all company's Operational contracts and significant financial obligations.
• Manage procedures necessary to maintain required licenses, certifications, and/or registrations.
• Attendance at meetings where your presence is necessary for strategic planning and day-to-day
• operations of the business (this includes meetings both on-site and at off-site locations)
