WSP is currently initiating a search for a Traffic Engineering Lead Professional to oversee our traffic engineering, safety, and ITS team in our Ohio offices (Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati). This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with technical, business, and managerial expertise. This position offers leadership opportunities, and key responsibilities include business development, project management, building/maintaining client relationships, technical oversight, and helping staff develop their careers. The successful candidate should have experience working in groups and have a desire to participate in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, as the traffic, safety, and ITS Ohio team works closely on work share across the Midwest Region. The candidate should have initiative and a strong desire for learning and sharing knowledge.

Your Impact
  • Leading business development activities to maintain and expand the backlog for Ohio
  • Serve as a project manager
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of client relationships in Ohio
  • Oversee project delivery and quality assurance/quality control
  • Collaborate with other managers and market sectors in the Ohio offices and throughout the Midwest Region
  • Participate in community, civic and client related events, including professional societies
  • Review and approve staff weekly timesheets
  • Conduct annual goal setting sessions and annual performance reviews with Ohio staff
  • Maintain positive team relationships

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of transportation engineering experience
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of scope, schedule, and budget
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in intersection, signing and pavement marking design
  • Experience in traffic/ITS design
  • Knowledge and experience with traffic and/or ITS software
  • Experience managing and delivering projects for Ohio clients, preferably ODOT
  • Dynamic leadership characteristics, within the company and with clients
  • Excellent communication, technical, and business development skills
